Field Service and Manufacturing
Experienced At Kiser, we’ve been building our shop repair and manufacturing facility and our field service team around our needs as a Hydropower Servicing, Repair and Supply company. This means our machines in our shop, our welders and machinists and our management live and breathe hydro turbines EVERY DAY. The difference this makes is that every decision that is made, at every stage of the design and manufacture process, is done so by people long experienced in the hydropower industry. This allows us to deliver better, higher quality products every time. We are less likely to make mistakes resulting in time consuming errors, so your project schedule will remain on-time. |
In-House Advantage Another huge advantage at Kiser, by having its own manufacturing facility, is that our schedule is always in our hands. It isn’t in the hands of other shops, vendors, or suppliers. We order our own materials and manufacture our parts in-house to keep control of project schedules and equipment deliveries. Your turbine parts are not shipped to different shops all over the place once your turbine is removed. You can visit our shop and see all of your parts right here. |
The Bigger The Better Our shop and manufacturing facility has approximately 4 acres under roof. Our shop concentrates on the ability to rehabilitate or manufacture new turbines up to 25 MW and up to 16 feet in diameter as well as supply all replacement parts for the same. We have very large vertical turning lathes, CNC bars and lathes, machining centers, rollers and a huge array of supporting equipment. We have 3 large overhead cranes running the length of the facility. We have an expansive disassembly and lay down area as well as a finished parts and storage area indoors. |
Quality Check When your parts reach our shop all are cataloged and tagged. They are then cleaned and blasted. After that, they are visually and non-destructively tested prior to refurbishment. Once the refurbishment scope is complete all parts are coated with a high quality marine-grade industrial epoxy before being checked and shipped. New parts are tagged as they are made from the raw materials. |
Turn-Key Advantage At Kiser, we are unique in that in addition to designing and manufacturing turbines, we are also well experienced and efficient at installation, maintenance and repair. This allows us to sell our customers turn-key projects. A turn-key project eliminates the "finger pointing" that is typical when several contractors work under the owner or a general contractor. If there is a problem on one of our turn-key projects, we know it is our responsibility and no one else. And you can bet we’ll handle it as expeditiously as possible! |
Field Service Experience Our company was founded on field service first with shop and engineering support being built as the company grew. So it comes as no surprise that we have a deep level of experience in this area. Our field service teams are fully outfitted to tackle any maintenance, repair, removal or turbine installation. Most of our field service managers have over 30 years managing turbine work for Kiser in the field. We employ millwrights, operators and laborers as necessary to complete your project, with most of our crew travelling with us across the country. We have our own crane and barge services as support. |
The Big Picture Our field service crews are all capable of diagnosis, inspection, maintenance, in-place repairs, turbine removal and turbine installation. We are also very good at dewatering and stopping the water in emergency situations. In Norway, Michigan we maintain a 16,000 square foot field service facility. This facility packs tools and job boxes and makes equipment ready for the individual crews each week as they depart from our shop. We have our own trucks to deliver tools and equipment to job sites. We also have a full array of pumps, compressors, hydraulic power units, heaters, blowers, safety equipment and nearly anything necessary to get the job done on site. We dispatch our cranes and barges, man lifts and any equipment necessary all over the U.S. as needed. |
